Bassist Jason Newsted left Metallica and joined Voivod.   Thrash of the Titans festival was held for Chuck Billy who had cancer and Chuck Schuldiner   who har a brain tumor. This led to comebacks for several thrash metal bands.    Messiah Marcolin reunites with Candlemass.
