| IMPORTANT EVENTS |
| Uriah Heep reforms with Mick Box as the bands new leader. Metallica relocates from Los Angeles to San Francisco. Iron Maiden's The Number of the Beast reaches number one on the UK charts. Metallica and Slayer released their debut albums and thrash metal becomes a thing. Quiet Riot became the first metal band to reach the #1 spot on the Billboard list. USPM (United States Power Metal) reaches it's peak with Cirith Ungol, Warlord, Manilla Road, Savatage and Queensrÿche releasing underground classics. Def Leppard released Pyromania, it got a lot of mainstream recognition. This was the beginning of the end for the NWOBHM movement. |
