Vocalist Kai Hansen leaving Helloween.   Billy Sheehan leaves David Lee Roth's solo band and forms Mr. Big   Legendary Rainbow drummer Cozy Powell joins Black Sabbath.   Heretic's Mike Howe joined Metal Church as David Wayne's replacement.   American vocalist David Reece replaced Udo Dirkschneider in Accept.

IMPORTANT EVENTS

The popular heavy metal documentary The Decline of Western Civilization II: The Metal          Years was released.   The Monsters of Rock tour featuring Metallica, Van Halen, Scorpions, Kingdom Come and   Dokken plays across America.   Queensrÿche released the prog metal masterpiece 'Operation: Mindcrime'.   Def Leppard's Hysteria reached the #1 spot on the Billboards album list.    Guns 'N Roses' Appetite For Destruction hit the #1 spot on the Billboards album list.
