| Deep Purple reforms after an eight year long break. Def Leppard's drummer Rick Allen loses his arm in a car crash. Hanoi Rocks drummer Razzle is killed in a car accident. The driver of the car is Mötley Crüe's Vince Neil. Doom metal legends Saint Vitus and Trouble releases their debut albums. The metal mockumentary Spinal Tap was released. Anthrax released their debut album 'Fistful of Metal'. 'Hair metal' was at it's peak with Van Halen's 1984, Ratt's Out of the Cellar, Dokken's Tooth and Nail, Europe's Wings of Tomorrow, W.A.S.P.'s W.A.S.P. and Whitesnake's Slide It In. Queensrÿche laid the groundwork for the progressive metal genre with their debut album The Warning. Metal magazine Metal Hammer launched in Germany. |
