| Motörhead parted ways with original drummer Lucas Fox. He was replaced by Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor. Ritchie Blackmore left Deep Purple due to dissatisfaction with the band's musical direction, marking the end of the band's Mark III era. He was replaced by Tommy Bolin. Ritchie Blackmore then formed Rainbow and he recruited several musicians from the band Elf, Including Ronnie James Dio. |

| Ted Nugent left The Amboy Dukes and started his solo career. Led Zeppelin's Robert Plant was in a car crash. He broke an ankle and an elbow. The band then cancelled the rest of the tour. |
