VENDETTA
FRANK HELLER
German thrash metal band Vendetta released two killer-albums (Go and Live...Stay and die & Brain Damage) in the late eighties before disbanding but they are back in business now and a new album is in the plans. I have talked to Vendetta's new guitarist Frank Heller.
Will there be a new Vendetta-album?
Right now we are making a new demo cd that we will send to a few labels and magazines - to hear what they think of the new stuff.
Are there any plans for a tour?
Right now we only play a few gigs live because we first want to finish our new material - so if it works like we hope - maybe there will be a tour soon.
Where have you guys been all these years?
Heiner, Samson (the original drummer) and daxx had a project that was called "POKE" where the did a few demo's. Me and Mario the new singer were in different cover bands - to pay our dues.
Go and live... Stay and Die (1987)
I've heard that Vendetta have recruited a couple of new members?, Can you give a short presentation of them?
Like said above me and Mario been playing in cover bands for years but me and Thomas the new drummer have been playing during our school time in a band that was called "Bloody Climax" and we even had a record with our own songs but no record deal. But that's long ago.
What do you think of the copyright discussions, That your music is on those file-sharing sites. Is it a good thing or do you see it as theft?
I think it is not as bad as all the major companies tell us. They feel like loosing a lot of money. But let's be honest 17ˆ for a cd is too expensive by far. They should lower the prices and don't pay too much money to their main artists just to prolong their contracts and not even write a song for the money. Finally I think it's fine that everyone can listen to the songs on mp3 or whatever. In the end if you are a fan of a band you want to own the original cd.
What bands are you influenced by?
Oh there's to much bands - just to name a few - Slayer, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and so.
What's your favourite Vendetta-album?
What's the highlight of your career?
Every Gig that you play in front of a cheering audience is great !!! And we had quite a lot.
What do you think of the thrash metal scene today? Many german bands certainly seems to remember their thrash roots.
That's fine. I can only start to puke if I see all the crap they want to sell us on TV. People should always be open hearted and go their own directions and should not go to much with the media. Money isn't everything. As long as you got enough to live a normal life.
Do you have any funny metal-story to tell?
