SODOM

KONRAD 'BOBBY' SCHOTTKOWSKI

Sodom has been one of the leading thrash bands since the release of their debut In the sign of evil back in 1984. Now two decades later they are still going strong and they are one of a very few bands that are still vital to this day. Sodom never changed or strayed far from the path. I have talked to Sodom's drummer Bobby Schottkowski, who has been playing with Sodom since he replaced Atomic Steif in the mid nineties. Bobby has played on Sodom's last three releases (Til' Death do us Unite from 1997, Code red from 1999 & M-16 from 2001). Now, over to Bobby:

Hi Jim, thanx for doin' this Interview with me and please forgive my bad english

Why has Sodom stopped releasing their albums on vinyl?

We don't stop, the fuc*** Record Company did it!!!
We wanna have it on Vinyl but they say "Nobody wants Vinyl anymore" and therefore
there is no release on Vinyl.

What where you up to before joining Sodom?

I started with my Band called "CROWS" We did one CD for Century Media Records, the name is "The dying Race". After that I made with the Guys from Rock Hard Magazine a Fun Band "RANDALICA" and after that I was going to be the SODOM Drummer and even "ONKEL TOM" (the Sideproject from Angelripper) but I stopped playing there last Winter.

How did you end up in Sodom?

I don't know :-))

When did you start to play drums, and who inspired you to start?

I started 1990 and was inspired by several Drummer like, Neil Peart (Rush), Roger Taylor (Queen), Kosta Zafiriou (Pink Cream 69), Kirk Arrington (Metal Church), John Bonham

What's your main influences?

I think for Drumming Neil Peart and since the last eight years Mike Portnoy and Paul Bostaph.

Code Red

Name 5 of your alltime favourite albums!

1. Megadeth - Peace Sells

2. Slayer - Reign in Blood

3. Rush - Moving Pictures

4. Metal Church - Metal Church

5. Aerosmith - Pump

Why haven't Sodom toured in the United States yet?

Nobody has invited us so far, simple but it's the truth. We did one Show at the Millwaukee Metal Fest and that's all.

What's your favourite Sodom release?

Persecution Mania and M-16

M-16

If you've got the opportunity to work with any musician that ever lived, who would you pick?

Dave Mustaine!!!!!!!!!!!!

What's Sodoms and your personal future plans?

Right now we work on a DVD and hope it will be ready in december. The new Studio
Album don't come before Summer 2004 and I will play live as often as possible because
I like to play in front of Heavy Metal Maniacs!!! I will give my best to make it happen that SODOM makes a Tour in the USA.

Right now we're in Contact with a Promoter in
Canada (I think it's not so far from the States :-)) Maybe we can arrange this with some
Gigs in the North of the USA or something like that. We wanna see!!!

Have you got any funny metal story to tell?

Yes but it's too difficult for me to write it here. Maybe we meet us someday and I will tell you a lot of Stories ;-))

What's the highlight of your career?

Every Gig and every Album I did, some more, some less. But I am proud to be a Member of the Worldwide Metal Family and that is a the biggest Highlight!!!

Any last word to our readers?

many bands come and go, SODOM stay forever.
